The short version

Murmur collects no data. Not your voice, not your text, not your usage. The App has no server to send anything to, and this website sets no cookies and runs no analytics.

1. The App

Murmur processes your speech entirely on your Mac using Apple's on-device frameworks (Speech, FoundationModels, Translation). As a consequence:

  • Your audio and your dictated text never leave your device. There is no Murmur server and the App makes no network calls for transcription, rewriting or translation.
  • The App contains no analytics, no crash reporting and no third-party SDKs. We do not know who uses Murmur or how.
  • Your last 50 dictations are stored in a local file on your Mac so you can re-copy them from the menu bar. You can purge this history at any time; deleting the App deletes it entirely.
  • macOS permissions (microphone, speech recognition, accessibility) are used solely to provide the dictation feature and can be revoked at any time in System Settings.

2. The website

murmur.dissi.fr is a static site. It sets no cookies, embeds no trackers and runs no analytics. Our hosting provider may keep standard, short-lived server logs (IP address, user agent, requested page) for security and operational purposes only, as any web host does.

3. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection over personal data concerning you. Since we do not collect personal data, there is in practice nothing for us to access, correct or delete, but you can contact us at any time about anything in this policy.

4. Changes

If Murmur's privacy practices ever change, this page will say so before the change takes effect, with an updated date. The promise that dictation stays on-device is an architectural one and will not change.
